Use a paper wrap to check the logo's position while the wallet and machine are unpowered. Mark folds, seams and pocket transitions, then choose a logo area that can be positioned and focused appropriately. Remove the paper completely before any laser operation. The wrap is a placement aid, not a protective engraving layer.

Map the wallet in the condition it will be used
First identify supplier-documented laser-compatible leather, including finishes and coatings. Empty the wallet and examine it closed and open. Do not proceed with an unidentified substitute or coated material simply because it resembles leather.
Wrap ordinary paper loosely around the intended face without forcing the wallet flat. Trace the fold and visible seam positions on the paper. Mark the proposed logo at its final size, then remove the paper and inspect the drawing. Refit it only for an unpowered visual comparison. Avoid adhesive or other placement materials that might leave residue on the finished surface.
A hypothetical 30 mm logo
Suppose a customer requests a 30 mm emblem centered visually on a wallet face. On the paper map, its left edge overlaps the fold transition. Moving the emblem away from the crease also brings it closer to a seam. Make two paper alternatives: a shifted emblem and a smaller emblem. Ask the customer to choose based on the real wallet appearance, not an enlarged screen view.
The dimension is illustrative, not an A1 Mini placement recommendation. There is no universal safe distance from a fold: construction, object support, focus and the actual mark all affect the decision.

If no suitable area remains, reduce or relocate the artwork with approval, or decline that placement. Do not flatten the wallet forcibly to make the drawing fit. Test the accepted artwork on matching compatible scrap before considering the wallet itself.
Check the surface and finished construction
Oil or wrinkles can change the result even away from a fold; use the leather surface intake check when either is present. For an unfinished wallet that will be stitched later, assess soot transfer near stitch holes before introducing light thread.

Can the paper stay on to stop the leather getting dirty?
No. This paper wrap is only an unpowered positioning exercise. Remove it before laser work; do not treat it as an approved masking material or fire barrier.
What if the logo fits while the wallet is open but bends when closed?
Evaluate the closed appearance with the paper alternatives before approval. A mark that fits a flat view can still look distorted across a fold. Change the location or size if the everyday appearance fails the customer's requirement.
