Before buying a P2 for a specific item, ask whether the seller can demonstrate your identified blank and your artwork at the intended size. Specify what would count as an acceptable result before the demonstration. Availability, shipping arrangements and charges need direct confirmation; a sample service should never be assumed to be included.
In a public discussion about buying an engraver without a local demonstration, prospective buyers describe how difficult it is to judge a narrow use case from general examples. A remote sample can reduce that uncertainty only when the material, configuration and result are traceable to the proposed purchase.
Make the request specific enough to answer
Use a compact sample brief rather than asking whether the machine engraves “leather” or “wood.” Those descriptions can hide changes in surface, coating, construction and thickness. If the supplier cannot document the blank's suitability for laser processing, establish that first. A successful mark does not prove that processing an unidentified material is acceptable.

For a hypothetical 30mm badge logo, specify that the inner spaces of the smallest letters must remain visible in ordinary viewing conditions. A dramatic macro photograph of one enlarged letter would not answer that question. Ask for a full badge view as well as a detail image, and retain an untouched copy of the submitted artwork so later differences can be located.
Compare evidence, not just the most attractive photo
Ask the demonstrator to state whether the pictured result was cleaned, filled, painted or otherwise finished after engraving. Those steps may be appropriate for the intended product, but their labor and appearance belong in the decision. If your requested result is an unfinished mark, a finished sample needs a separate explanation.
For a customer portrait, establish shadow readability using a three-tone photo proof before asking whether the demonstration looks impressive. For lettering, compare the smallest counters and adjacent strokes. These are different acceptance tasks; one general beauty photograph should not stand in for both.
The P2 listing positions standard P2 as a compact galvo personalization option. The selected optical module, supported blank and actual usable placement must still be confirmed. Tie every demonstration to that configuration, particularly when a seller also offers other laser technologies. Use the optical-output versus electrical-rating check if the quotation and sample video show inconsistent power labels.
Decide what the sample actually resolves
Record the result as accepted, rejected or inconclusive against each requested feature. One good badge demonstrates that particular sample under its recorded conditions. It does not establish yield across a box of variable natural material or the repeatability of an entire order. If repeat appearance matters, ask whether several independently loaded samples can be supplied and what they would cost.
Is a seller's sample enough to accept customer orders immediately?
It helps establish feasibility, but your own incoming stock and supported setup still need verification. Keep the approved sample as a reference and compare the first item you make against it before committing a customer batch.
What if I cannot send the exact customer item?
Ask the blank supplier for a documented matching sample or a spare from the same specification. If only a different material is available, label the result as a partial demonstration and leave the actual-item question open.
