Message from LightBurn: Important Update on Pricing

We believe that many users are closely following the recent changes, and LightBurn has officially adjusted their pricing. Below is the detailed information directly from LightBurn:

Existing customers are unaffected this year, unless you're getting a free upgrade.

What's changing on Oct 1, 2024?

LightBurn is consolidating four license types into two:

  • The GCode license will be renamed LightBurn Core and priced at $99.
  • DSP and Galvo licenses will be combined into LightBurn Pro and priced at $199.
  • LightBurn is retiring DSP-only and Galvo-only licenses.
  • All existing DSP and Galvo customers are being automatically and freely upgraded to LightBurn Pro as a thank you to our early customers.

Why the changes?

We're moving to two license types to reduce confusion about what license to buy. Making that decision easier for customers also makes things easier for our support team, so everybody wins.

The price increase for LightBurn Core is the first in more than three years. (LightBurn Pro will be $11 cheaper than a DSP+Galvo license today.) LightBurn Core is a lot more capable than LightBurn GCode was three years ago, and it's time the asking price reflected that. If you've been on the fence about buying LightBurn, the price increase doesn't take effect until Oct 1.

What about pricing for a year of software updates?

Note: We've historically called this "license renewal," but we'll be referring to it as "software updates" from now on, as that better reflects that the license is perpetual while updates are annual.

For the rest of 2024, you can still buy a year of software updates at $30 for both LightBurn Core and LightBurn Pro. In early 2025, that will change to:

  • $50 if you're buying updates again after having lapsed (with a big exception for existing customers, see below)
  • $45 if you've been paying for software updates for at least a year, including the year that came with a new license purchase
  • $40 if you've been paying for software updates continuously for 2+ years

If your license key dates from 2024 or earlier, we will always allow you to buy another year of updates at the lowest offered price, even if you lapse. This is, again, a thank you to our early customers who've gotten us where we are. We have to change some code behind the scenes to make that possible, and we won't change annual update pricing until then.
