LightBurn Print Preview Is Blank: Check the Proof Export

LightBurn Print Preview Is Blank: Check the Proof Export

Treat the design canvas, laser preview and outgoing PDF as three separate views. A blank print export does not establish that the laser job is empty, and a visible PDF does not validate the laser's settings. First test whether a simple known shape appears in the saved proof.

A January–February macOS printing discussion reports blank output from one LightBurn print path. Keeping colors helped one user but did not solve every report. It is an older, version-specific observation that can guide a comparison, not a guaranteed current fix.

Establish which view has failed

Save the project before experimenting. In a copy, add an easily recognized reference rectangle and inspect it on the canvas. Check the software's laser preview independently. Then save the print result to a PDF and open that PDF in a separate viewer.

If the rectangle is absent from the canvas, investigate the drawing first. If it is visible on the canvas but absent from the print file, record the print option, operating system and application version. Do not change laser power to solve a paper-output failure.

Use a short comparison record

View or output Question Implication
Canvas Is the reference shape present? Establishes the working drawing contains it
Laser preview Are the intended operations visible? Checks the software job separately
Saved PDF Does the reference appear in another viewer? Separates export from viewer behavior
Physical paper Does the measured reference retain its size? Checks print scaling for placement proof

If your version offers a keep-colors print option, compare it with the failing option on the copy. Open the saved result rather than trusting the print dialog's thumbnail. Record success or failure so another operator can reproduce the test.

A fallback proof must still have a scale reference

When the print route remains unreliable, prepare the visual proof in the original design application. Include a measured reference shape and print at actual size. Measure that reference on paper; a fit-to-page option can make an attractive proof physically misleading.

The SVG layer-color check helps preserve intended operations during preparation, but paper colors are only visual information. Keep product mockup photographs separate from production bounds so the proof's presentation elements do not enlarge the laser job accidentally.

For the A1 Mini, compare the approved design size with its 120 × 130 mm working area and the real supported blank. A paper proof is useful for appearance and placement. It does not demonstrate clearance, material suitability or successful engraving, all of which remain separate checks in the approved setup.

Can I approve a job from a screenshot instead of a PDF?

A screenshot can show appearance, but it rarely establishes physical scale on its own. Include measured dimensions and use a verified actual-size proof when the recipient must judge fit.

Should I reinstall the software as soon as the PDF is blank?

First preserve the file and record a minimal example with the application and OS versions. A reproducible rectangle test gives support clearer evidence and avoids disturbing a working device configuration unnecessarily.
