Engraving Image Shifts Sideways? Separate File, Motion, and Scan Load

When an engraving steps sideways, stop the affected job and preserve its file and position history. Determine whether the displacement is visible in software or only in the physical result before deciding what to compare. A stepped image alone cannot identify a belt, driver, controller or software fault.

A user report about a shifting image illustrates the symptom. Suggested causes on another machine are hypotheses, not permission to adjust X1S 2026 hardware. Impacts, grinding, a snag or lost position call for a safe stop and support, not another test.

Compare the saved image with the intended path

Keep the original file and photograph the failed result once the work is safe to approach. Mark the first visible step on the photograph, not by repositioning the work under the head. Note whether the step begins immediately, appears after several rows or follows a particular part of the image. Capture the preview using the same file and settings.

A preview that already contains the offset points to a different investigation from a clean preview with a displaced physical mark. Verify the imported image and dimensions in a copy. Do not apply a compensating offset to the customer file to make a second error line up with the first.

A small comparison, only when operation is permitted

If current TYVOK instructions or support permit further output and there are no abnormal machine symptoms, use a small known file on identified compatible sacrificial stock. Maintain documented focus and setup, effective extraction, protective measures, continuous attendance and fire readiness. End the comparison immediately if movement becomes abnormal or the sample overheats.

Use only controls supported by the actual software route and within current guidance. An improvement at a lower workload does not prove the cause, and a successful small image does not certify a full-size job. Send both results to support if the failure remains unexplained.

Keep hardware observations within the manual

The X1S 2026 page still notes that final specifications are pending. Only perform an external obstruction or belt-condition observation if the current shipping manual or TYVOK support authorizes it, with power disconnected as instructed. Do not change belt tension, remove covers, alter drivers or controller parameters, or compensate position without a model-specific procedure.

The absolute-coordinate grid guide can help describe the coordinate convention in a report; it does not restore lost position. If engraving is aligned but only the cutting action is displaced, compare the distinct cut-versus-engrave offset evidence without transferring Pro hardware instructions.

Does a shift at the same row prove a bad file?

No. Repeatable timing or location can have several explanations. Keep the preview, source file and physical photographs together so support can distinguish them.

Is it safe to keep running if a slower sample looks better?

Not on that observation alone. A persistent unexplained positioning problem remains a hold condition. A smaller or slower sample can reduce the visible symptom without resolving its cause.
