Cutting Shifts but Engraving Aligns? Isolate the Motion Mode

Preserve the original artwork and compare engraving and cutting against the same asymmetric reference. Record the direction and amount of displacement before changing anything. Moving the cutting layer to disguise an unexplained offset makes the next result harder to diagnose and may spoil a larger X1S Pro job.

A May report of cutting-only displacement describes a repeatable shift despite aligned engraving. It is evidence that users encounter mode-dependent symptoms, not evidence of an X1S Pro defect or a transferable mechanical repair. Several different file, origin, and machine conditions can produce superficially similar results.

Build a comparison that cannot be flipped accidentally

An off-center notch or unequal arms make orientation easier to recognize than a plain square. Preserve that geometry in the source file and exported file. Write down units, dimensions, selected device profile, origin mode, and software version. Compare the file views first, without emitting the laser.

Where the current X1S Pro instructions permit a control job, use identified compatible sacrificial material and established settings for that specific construction. Maintain ventilation, fire controls, and direct attendance. Keep the material reference fixed and stop if motion becomes abnormal. Do not reproduce a collision or unexplained aggressive movement simply to obtain another measurement.

Measure from more than one landmark. A uniform translation, a scale difference, and an orientation mistake should not share the same description of “off.” Photograph the ruler and reference together, and keep the actual sample labeled with its filename. If multiple samples already exist, preserve their sequence instead of averaging away a changing error.

Give support the comparison, not a guessed correction

Send TYVOK the source, export, screenshots, configuration identification, measurements, and any displayed alarm. The X1S Pro product page helps identify the relevant model, but belt, backlash, driver, controller, and mechanical actions require the current manual or exact support instructions. Do not change those items based on another brand's repair story.

When the evidence points to software placement, consult the large-grid position guide as a coordinate concept reference, checking applicability to the Pro workflow. A whole image stepping during raster work is a different symptom, covered in the engraving shift comparison.

Can I offset the cut layer to finish today's order?

An unexplained displacement should not become a production correction. Hold the paid work until the cause and correction are established and the complete alignment proof passes.

Does good engraving rule out a machine problem?

No. It only describes one operation under one set of conditions. Preserve both observations and let the configuration-specific diagnosis determine whether the cause is file state, placement, or something requiring service.
