We looked at a lot of different brands and found that the newest models are more useful, safer, easier to clean, and just as handy as digital craft cutters like the best Cricut machines. Glowforge Pro
The elegantly designed Glowforge Pro "laser printer" eliminates clutter and fuss while providing a streamlined and user-friendly product. This model is the top model from Glowforge; other models include the slightly less powerful Basic model, the medium Plus edition, the Cricut-like Aura, and the Spark.
Similar to many of the top laser cutters on my list, it can cut and engrave, but because of its design, any mess is kept inside the device (dust and debris are drawn into an external air filter by a filter). Windows, Mac, and tablet computers can be used with the Glowforge machines, which accept designs via a custom app.
Upon testing this for my Glowforge Pro review, I was pleasantly surprised by how fast, user-friendly, and feature-rich the machine's design app was. However, It is best used in conjunction with the Glowforge Air Filter attachment.
The Glowforge's simplicity of use and uncluttered laser cutting and engraving methods are what guarantee its top spot on my list. It has the appearance of a regular printer but is capable of engraving metal, wood, tiles, paper, leather, and other materials. It is ideal for any operation requiring precise cutting, such as making costumes or working on models. The 'passthrough' slot on this Pro model allows you to feed huge pieces of material through, which makes it a perfect wood laser cutter for furniture-making. The Glowforge Pro is an excellent tool for everyone, including small studios or schools!
xTool F1
The xTool F1 is a smart little laser cutter and engraver you can put on your desk. It makes it easy to make gifts, tags, signs, and coasters with engravings. The xTool F1 is a good choice for people just starting to engrave, but it's also a great portable, handheld laser engraver for experienced users who want the freedom of a smaller desktop or handheld device.
It has impressive specs, like an accuracy of 0.00199mm and a speed of 4000 mm/s for engraving, which is more than enough for small projects. Its 115 x 115 mm surface can be expanded to 400 x 115 mm with a tray accessory that must be bought separately.
The F1 is small and has fewer features than the xTool P2, Glowforge Pro, or Gweike laser cutters. However, it's an excellent tool for people who want a second laser engraver for small projects (the xTool M1 or Glowforge Aura and Spark are the best starting machines, in my opinion).
xTool P2
The xTool P2 is my top choice for the best laser cutter overall. It has a 55-watt CO2 laser, which makes it the strongest laser cutter for home use on the market right now. This helps the xTool M1 laser cutter and engraver (see below) compensate for some of its flaws by giving you better accuracy and speed. It also has an automatic passthrough slot, two 16MP cameras for high-definition accuracy, and the ability to print on flat and curved materials.
I trust this a lot because it's very accurate. When using a laser cutter and engraver, you must try things out and see what works and what doesn't. But the cameras' accuracy meant I could go back and fix any lines that weren't cut straight or redo a job with different settings.
It's made of metal, has a glass lid, and an extractor fan built in, just like the Glowforge Pro at number three on my list. However, its surface is bigger than the Glowforge Pro's, measuring 600 x 308 mm compared to 495 mm by 279 mm. Along with being quick (600 mm/s), it's made to be clean and easy to use. It can easily cut 18 mm basswood in one pass.
The bad news is that Glowforge Pro comes with a passthrough that works right away, but P2 needs an extra part called the Automatic Conveyor Feeder to fully use its expanded size (3,000 x 500 mm). But that's also a strength because it works with many other xTool accessories. For example, a Riser Base can make the area taller (see my guide to the best xTool accessories for more information).
This laser cutter can do many different things, including rotating engraving (which you have to buy separately). I've used it for nine months and found it compelling and flexible. Like a Glowforge, it's big, heavy, and a bit more complicated. The Glowforge app is easier for me, but the P2 costs less for the same amount of power, so it's a close call.
