A Strip Nest Is Longer Than Your Sheet: Check the Boundary

Compare the full exported nest length with the usable length of your physical sheet before sending it to the laser. A strip solver can arrange all the parts successfully while producing a layout too long for one sheet. If it exceeds the boundary, form valid part groups and nest those groups for the available stock.

Sparrow Studio's documentation describes fixed-width strip packing that reduces the length used, and explicitly distinguishes it from allocating parts across multiple fixed-size sheets. That limitation is directly relevant to a workshop evaluating the tool for sheet-fed laser work. It does not imply that every nesting program has the same limitation.

A complete nest can still be physically unusable

Consider an illustrative workstation with a measured usable stock rectangle of 760 × 1900 mm. Its strip result is 760 mm wide and 2450 mm long. The width fits, but the output exceeds the usable length by 550 mm. A complete part count cannot remove that extra length.

Do not draw a dividing line at 1900 mm and assume the remainder becomes a second sheet. The line may cross a part. Even if it passes through an empty gap, verify that each resulting group fits its own stock, respects the original clearances and preserves every complete contour.

If no clean separation exists, choose subsets of whole parts and run new layouts constrained to the relevant stock. The output needs a deliberate sheet assignment, not a visual suggestion that the long strip could somehow be fed through the machine.

Keep orientation rules when regrouping. A rotated part may fit but violate an approved grain direction or surface pattern. Also inspect holes, small features and imported curves in the final cutting software; a bounding rectangle says nothing about whether those details survived export.

Prepare finite sheets for the X1S Pro

The TYVOK X1S Pro product page lists an 800 × 2000 mm workflow with current 20W/60W selector options. Use your actual configuration and supported stock arrangement. The listed work area is not a continuous-material feed promise, and it cannot make a longer strip fit a finite sheet.

Save each accepted sheet group with a clear identifier, then reconcile requested and placed quantities across all groups. Regrouping can accidentally leave one part behind or include it twice.

Before output, apply and inspect the appropriate machine settings separately from the nesting geometry. Cut Selected Graphics is not a crop; selecting a group near the edge does not clip its outlying contours into the usable region.

Buyer questions

Can I scale the long nest down until it fits?

Only if changing every part dimension is explicitly acceptable. Most fitted components must retain their intended size. Scaling a nest to fit stock can destroy that requirement.

If the tool exports all parts, has it created my sheet plan?

Not necessarily. A strip result can contain every part while leaving sheet allocation unresolved. Confirm the tool's current behavior and inspect each finite sheet assignment yourself.
