Plan the actual job
Prepare the scale in the intended units and verify the file at actual size. Leave room for a locating reference and keep decorative elements separate from measurement marks. Test the wood and finish on a spare, then measure the physical sample with an independent ruler. Document the distance between the board's bottom edge and the first scale mark so installation instructions match the artwork.
