xTool S1 vs TYVOK X1S Pro: Diode Laser Buying Comparison

The xTool S1 and TYVOK X1S Pro answer different workspace questions. Both are sold as diode laser platforms, so a comparison that calls X1S Pro a 60W CO₂ tube or a galvo scanner is incorrect. The S1 is sold as an enclosed diode system; the X1S Pro product page emphasizes its longer modular workspace and selectable diode configurations. A useful purchase decision starts with the exact variant, actual part size, material and required operating setup.

Compare the products you can actually order

The current xTool S1 product page lists its available diode configurations and enclosure features. The TYVOK X1S Pro listing provides an 800 × 2000 mm long-format route with 20W and 60W diode variants. Confirm the chosen configuration in each cart, including enclosure, platform, air assist, rotary hardware and shipping. A headline wattage without its matching option is not a fair price comparison. The two sites may change packages independently, so use the current regional checkout rather than an old comparison table.

On a long sign or panel, make a physical layout drawing with the finished blank, loading clearance and fixture margins. The nominal X1S Pro field is not the usable finished sign size. If most work is small gifts, ask whether the smaller enclosed machine is easier to place and operate in your shop. If most work needs a long continuous design, the X1S Pro modular footprint is the feature to test. Neither answer can be inferred from watts alone.

Keep the laser technology comparison accurate

X1S Pro uses a blue diode laser on a moving X/Y structure, not a CO₂ tube and not galvo mirrors. S1 is also an enclosed diode system. A gantry-style machine moves a head across the job; the exact usable area and speed depend on the selected machine and job. Avoid a blanket claim that either product is eleven times faster or always more precise. Request the same artwork, material and final size from both sellers if cycle time matters.

Both machines require material qualification. For wood and plywood, compare edge quality, pass count and cleaning on the same supplier stock. For acrylic, identify color and composition: blue diode capability on an opaque sample does not establish clear-acrylic cutting. Do not promise bare-metal engraving or glass results from a generic product category. If a job is centered on clear acrylic, compare an appropriate CO₂ system separately rather than pretending either diode system has a CO₂ source.

Decision point What to compare
Product size Measured usable field after margins and fixture space
Shop setup Enclosure, extraction, loading path and supervision
Material Same-batch first-piece sample and accepted finish
Output Accepted pieces per hour, not advertised travel speed
Cost Exact cart, accessories, freight and remake allowance

Run a fair order simulation

Choose one realistic customer job: for example, a painted wooden sign with a specific logo and delivery date. Use the approved file at the final dimensions. Record setup, focus, engraving or cutting, cleanup and inspection time for each machine. Rejects belong in the calculation; a fast but unacceptable piece is not output. If you lack access to both machines, ask each supplier for a sample on the same material rather than inventing test results. Document the final accepted appearance and total cost.

The X1S Pro also needs room around a long frame and a safe extraction plan. The S1's enclosure still needs its own ventilation and material controls. Neither enclosure nor power rating makes an unknown plastic safe to laser. Check the current manuals and the exact hardware before operating either model.

Which purchase path fits?

Select S1 if its verified field and included enclosure match most jobs and the compact operating setup is valuable. Select X1S Pro if a proven long-format job justifies the 800 × 2000 mm route and your workshop can support that footprint. A small metal-marking business may need a different laser class entirely. Get the accepted sample and actual cart first; then check X1S Pro configurations and purchase options.

Is X1S Pro CO₂? No, it is a diode system.

Is X1S Pro a galvo? No, it moves its head on X/Y axes.
